Bird and Cunnington to Represent Canada

5 April 2017…Edmonton- Swim Alberta is proud to announce that Morgan Bird (Cascade Swim Club, Calgary) and Tammy Cunnington (Red Deer Catalina Swim Club/Centre de Haute Performance - Quebec) have been selected to represent Alberta at the 2017 World Para Swimming Championships in Mexico City, Mexico.

Bird and Cunnington punched their ticket to the World Para Championships based on their performances from the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and recently at the Can-Am Championships in Windsor, Ontario.

Bird capped off a successful Pan-Ams meet with three gold medal finishes in the 100m Free, 50m Free and 100m Butterfly, while breaking her own 200m Free record and setting a personal best at 2.35.23

Cunnington’s Pan-Ams performance saw her take home three bronze and two silvers over the course of the championships that ran March 31st- April 2nd.

With their selection to the World Para Swimming Championships, both Cunnington and Bird will represent Canada September 29- October 6th in Mexico City.
