May 31,2018...EDMONTON- Swim Alberta has officially launched the search for a Performance Technical Director to lead, guide and direct the technical performances and programs in Alberta.
The need for a Performance Technical Director was identified in the work being done by Dr. Stephen Norris on the Swim Alberta Performance Development and High Performance Strategy (Performance Strategy), in consultation with the Alberta Technical Program Committee (ATPC) and the board of Swim Alberta earlier this spring. Norris began this work in the fall of 2017 and has been working closely with staff and the technical coaching leadership in the province who form the ATPC in creation of the framework for the performance strategy.
Moving away from a provincial coach model at this level of leadership, Swim Alberta is looking for an individual with the right skills that can be both a challenger to create better performances in Alberta and an advocate for the needs of Alberta athletes, coaches and clubs.
“The Performance Technical Director will bring an “Alberta First” vision and strong commitment to increasing performances in Alberta swimming” says Cheryl Humphrey, Executive Director. Swim Alberta will be seeking an individual that can create an engaging and inspiring environment for Alberta’s athletes, clubs, coaches and programs to reach their full potential – fulfilling the organization’s vision of “every athlete has the opportunity to reach their full potential”
Swim Alberta is aiming to have the Performance Technical Director in place for the fall of 2018. A copy of the recruitment advertisement and role description can be found here: Performance Technical Director -Swim Alberta .
