The Future Coach Program is a series of three weekend workshops designed to add value to existing coaching qualifications. The program will establish a learning environment for developing coaches to expand on content introduced in the NCCP program and further insight on topics, trends and interests in coaching athletes.  The program is a partnership with the Alberta Sport Development Centre – Calgary.

Swim Alberta sees the Future Coach Program as an annual program going forward, that will provide a structured development opportunity to coaches who have a desire to enhance and further develop their skills. The program is in its inaugural year and was initially developed to support the selection of coaches onto the 2017 Canada Games Team.  Two coaches from the Future Coaches program, who have the required certification, may be invited to join the Canada Games Team that will compete this summer in Winnipeg, Manitoba July 21-August 13.

Special Projects Coordinator Jackie Cool is contracted by Swim Alberta to provide oversight to the Future Coaches Program. "We are working to develop the quality and quantity of coaches who are educated in leadership, empowering athletes, team dynamics and who are positively influenced to develop a growth mindset.” Says Cool.  “I know this will strengthen Alberta swimming performances going forward."
