Fundraising

Swim-a-thon (SAT) is an online fundraising program developed and managed by Swimming Canada for swim clubs across the country. The platform enables clubs to host swim-based fundraising events where participants collect pledges to support their programs and activities.

As this is a Swimming Canada-managed platform, any technical questions, account issues, or platform support inquiries should be directed to Swimming Canada. Full details, support resources, and contact information are available on Swimming Canada’s Swim-a-thon website.

We thank Swimming Canada for their support in enabling this benefit for Alberta clubs.

Swim-a-thon
Line
  • The Swim-a-thon platform is built, maintained, and administered by Swimming Canada. Funds raised are distributed as follows:
    • 10% of the total raised is retained nationally to administer the program:
    • 7% retained by Swimming Canada
    • 3% allocated to each provincial section (e.g., Swim Alberta) to offset administration costs such as bookkeeping, payment processing, and program oversight
    • 90% of the total raised** is paid directly to the club
  • In Alberta:
    • Swim Alberta returns our 3% allocation back to participating clubs. This means Alberta clubs receive 93% of the total amount raised—one of the highest payout rates in the country.
  • How It Works: Club Registration – Clubs sign up directly through Swimming Canada’s Swim-a-thon platform.
  • Event Setup: Customize your club’s fundraising page, set goals, and add event details.
  • Promotion: Share the event page link with members, families, and the community to collect pledges.
  • Swim Event Day: Host your club’s Swim-a-thon challenge and celebrate participation.
  • Funds Distribution: After the event, funds are processed and distributed according to the Alberta distribution model above.
  • Getting Started: Visit Swimming Canada’s Swim-a-thon information page for detailed setup instructions. Review the Swim-a-thon donation portal to see how the platform works.
