Insurance

Swim Alberta provides insurance coverage for all affiliated clubs, members, coaches, officials, and volunteers participating in training and sanctioned competitions. This coverage includes accident insurance, Directors and Officers liability coverage, and other protections designed to safeguard both individuals and organizations. These measures support a safe, professional, and responsible sport environment for all participants.

Swim Alberta insurance applies only to Swim Alberta sanctioned events, as outlined in the Swim Alberta Event Sanctioning Policy, and to Swim Alberta registered members. If your club operates outside these parameters, Swim Alberta insurance coverage may not apply, and you may not be protected.

Certificate of Insurance

This form is required when a facility requests to be named as an additional insured on a Certificate of Insurance. Submitting this request ensures that the facility has formal documentation of coverage under Swim Alberta’s insurance program.

Requests must be submitted at least three (3) weeks prior to the event to allow sufficient processing time.

  • Incomplete or late submissions may result in delays or inability to provide the certificate.
  • The form must include accurate facility information to ensure the certificate is issued correctly.
  • This process helps protect both the club and the facility, while ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.

International Travel Reporting Form

This form must be completed by any Swim Alberta club planning to travel outside of Canada for training or competition at least three (3) weeks prior to travel. Submitting the form ensures that Swim Alberta is aware of your club’s international activities and that appropriate insurance and risk management measures are in place.

  • Swim Alberta’s insurance coverage does not extend to training or competition outside of Canada. All clubs are strongly recommended to purchase coverage for their club members travelling outside of Canada.
  • Swim Alberta’s insurance broker requires Swim Alberta to report international activities in order to determine member exposure. Although Swim Alberta’s coverage does not extend to training or competition outside of Canada, providing this information is a mandatory requirement of our broker.
  • The form must be submitted at least three (3) weeks prior to travel.
  • Accurate details regarding the trip, including dates, location, and participants, are required.
  • This process helps safeguard swimmers, coaches, and clubs by ensuring proper documentation and oversight are in effect before departure.

Incident Reporting Form

The Incident Reporting Form is used to notify Swim Alberta of any accidents, injuries, or situations that may lead to an insurance claim. Timely reporting is critical, as Swim Alberta’s insurance coverage requires that all incidents be documented immediately to ensure eligibility under the policy.

This form serves as the first step and is mandatory should a member require access to Swim Alberta’s accident insurance. By submitting this report, Swim Alberta can provide guidance, track member safety, and meet the requirements of our insurance providers.

  • Ensure that potential claims are recognized and processed in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate documentation of the incident for both Swim Alberta and our insurance broker.
  • Support a safe and responsible sport environment by identifying areas of risk.
  • Provide documentation for the club and/or member to support further claims.
