Swim Alberta Challenge Sets November 2020

Val CarrNews, Swim Alberta News

It’s Challenge Set time from Swim Alberta and EVERY swimmer has the opportunity to challenge themselves!  You are training with new challenges already, so we know you are strong and ready to take this on.  This is your time to see what you really can do.  Be brave, be courageous and let’s celebrate your new level of aerobic training in the pool!

Don’t worry about simply comparing yourself with others; we at Swim Alberta are interested in what YOU can do and how YOU improve over time. So ‘drop the mic’ (or goggles!) and tell us about the challenges you are going after this season.

The challenge is to see how many 100’s of the same stroke you can do holding a solid average on the tightest interval possible.  For example:

  • 20 x 100 BK on 1:20 holding 1:06’s
  • 12 x 100 FR on 1:35 holding 1:23’s
  • Even 10 x 100 FR on 2:00 holding your best average

Dr. Stephen Norris, Performance Technical Director says “Aerobic training is foundational to your success in swimming as it provides the launch pad for your abilities to not only swim the entire Olympic program of events, but also to support your overall physical work capacity, your underlying health platform, and your ability to handle life’s stressors; from training, to school, to relationships, travel and competition, yes… these will be back sometime.”

Your coach can send in your name and what you accomplished to jackie@swimalberta.ca and we will put your name into a draw for some Swim Alberta swag. Deadline is Nov. 30, 2020.  You can post your accomplishments on social media, tag Swim Alberta and use the hashtags #swimAB and #challengesetAB
