Racing Unplugged: Crazy Hat

Swim Alberta is excited to introduce our latest challenge – Racing Unplugged: Crazy Hat this October-November. For the next month our novice level swimmers will be given the chance to compete in this event. There are two virtual racing opportunities for novice level swimmers this fall with another announcement to come out following the Crazy Hat event.

Competition Focus
The focus of these virtual competitions is for novice level swimmers and swimmers who are age 11 and under.  Novice level is defined as swimmers who do not have a Provincial Trials qualifying time. A 12 & over age category has been included, intended for swimmers who are new, Special Olympics, para swimmers as well as swimmers who are below the provincial trials level.

Winter Festival Qualifying
All times achieved during these virtual races will be eligible to qualify for the Swim Alberta Winter Festivals (10 & under girls, 11 & under boys).

Racing Unplugged: Crazy Hat

  • October 25 – November 21
  • Entry Deadline – November 21

General Information and Process
A meet package and event entry file has been published on the Swimming Canada meet list, results will be published on Swim Alberta’s Virtual Race Results page. The age groups, rules and awards are outlined on the meet package.  All times from the submission period are permitted, the entry deadline and event date is the last date of the submission period.  Late entries will not be accepted. The link to the Crazy Hat meet page has been published. All practice times are permitted for ranking. Results are to be submitted using a Hy-Tek entry file to the meet list, using custom entry times. Competition results may be submitted for inclusion in the virtual ranking.

Have Fun and Share Your Event!
Crazy Hat may include coaches or swimmers wearing a unique hat to the pool. (not swimming with the hat). Clubs running in house racing for submission are encouraged to tag Swim Alberta on social media while doing these events to share any Crazy Hats themed photos (please maintain distancing).
